Sophos has lured McAfee veteran Gavin Struthers to join its ranks and to lead its Asia-Pacific and Japanese businesses.
In his new role as regional vice president for APJ, Struthers will be based out of Sophos' offices in Singapore, where he will be responsible for the company's growth plans and channel operations.
Prior to joining Sophos, Struthers worked at McAfee for 16 years in the US and Asia-Pacific in various leadership roles. He was most recently senior vice president and president for Asia-Pacific and prior to that was senior vice president of worldwide channel operations.
Struthers welcomed the new role with praise for channel partners in the region. “The key to growing a successful business in the Asia Pacific region is to nurture and support the right channel partners. Sophos has a global reputation for focusing 100 percent on its channel and for providing the programs that partners need and the products that customers demand," he said.
Commenting on the appointment, Sophos senior vice president of worldwide sales Michael Valentine said he was excited to welcome Struthers into the next phase of his career.
“Gavin’s industry knowledge and depth of channel understanding will be critical to our growth and expansion across the APJ region as we continue to deliver our channel first, channel best strategy. I look forward to working with him to deliver the products, services, and programs our channel partners need to succeed and grow.”
The announcement comes just a day after Sophos' general manager for Australia and New Zealand Ashley Wearne revealed his departure from the security vendor after seven years.
