Broad-based distributor Ingram Micro has signed up security vendor SonicWall in a a national distribution and marketing agreement.

Ingram Micro joins ACA Pacific, Lan 1 and Dovetail as SonicWall distributors in Australia.

Nasdaq-listed SonicWall said in a statement that Ingram Micro had agreed to push SonicWall's entire network security portfolio for SMB and enterptise networks.

Lorraine Cowan, a networking business manager at Ingram Micro, said the distribution giant worked with SonicWall in the US. The relationship was being extended to Australia, she said.

"Ingram Micro has an excellent relationship with SonicWall [in the US]," Cowan said.

SonicWall’s multi-function security products gave enterprise-class protection at affordable prices for small business and could be readily incorporated into a wide range of vendor environments, she claimed.

"This makes them an attractive proposition for our channel partners in Australia," Cowan said.

Tim Dickinson, country manager for SonicWall Australia, said the deal would help it take its wired and wireless security offerings to a broader market.

"Adding Ingram Micro as a distributor provides our partners with even greater opportunities to build their businesses, particularly in the fast-expanding Managed Security Solution Provider space,” Dickinson said.

Dickinson said demand for SonicWall products in the region had been growing.

"We hope to make substantial progress in consolidating our position as a leader supplier of network security solutions here in Australia," he said. "We’ve been developing an expansive strategy for our channel and overall business here in Australia."
