Somerville bolsters Victorian footprint, hires trio out of Computelec

A trio of education specialists from Computelec followed the education reseller's managing director and joined Somerville ISNet's Victorian operation.

Danny Thien, Brett North and Jack Jayilian have been recruited by Sydney-headquartered Somerville, which in July announced that former Computelec chief executive David La Bozzetta had joined as managing director for education. The moves follow Computelec's merger with Winthrop earlier this year

Thien, Computelec's former manager for internal sales, was named Somerville's national software sales specialist and will lead the licensing team from Melbourne. Thien joined Computelec in 2004 in internal sales and was promoted several times during his 12 years with the company.

Somerville announced North as national manager of education services and Jayilian as senior technical specialist, mobile devices.

North was with Computelec for 15 years and was most recently the national manager for operations and services. Jayilian was with Computelec for 16 years and was senior service manager.

Somerville chief executive Craig Somerville said the new hires "significantly increases our commitment to both the Victorian education market as a full service integration partner for our customers and the national education sector in general".

Adrian Toole, sales director of Somerville, praised Thien's Adobe clout, having been recognised for Adobe sales excellence in October 2014 and also for being an Adobe certified professional. Toole said: "Danny carries strong relationships with many major vendors such as VMware, Acronis, Microsoft, Symantec, Fortinet and others."

Somerville was recently appointed the Adobe partner for the Independent Schools Victoria.

Craig Somerville said: "This further develops our strong relationship with the organisation [Independent Schools Victoria] following the integration of their collaboration network into the ISNet national ecosystem in 2010."

Somerville now services more than 100 metro and regional independent schools in Victoria, according to the company.
