Snowflake is paying OpenAI US$200 million (A$287m) million to allow the integration of OpenAI’s large language models directly into Snowflake’s products.

The companies said they would co-develop and deploy solutions based on these models for joint enterprise customers based on OpenAI Apps SDK, AgentKit, and APIs that support shared enterprise workflows.

Customers will have access to various OpenAI models, including GPT 5.2, which will combine with Snowflake’s own Cortex AI to enable a multimodal AI approach to data analysis.

OpenAI will also gain access to Snowflake's data platform for experiment tracking, analytics, and testing.

Snowflake chief executive Sridhar Ramaswamy said the deal allows organisations to use the models across their data within the Snowflake platform they are familiar with.

“Customers can now harness all their enterprise knowledge in Snowflake together with the world-class intelligence of OpenAI models, enabling them to build AI agents that are powerful, responsible, and trustworthy,” he said.

OpenAI applications chief executive Fidji Simo said that Snowflake is a trusted platform central to how many enterprises manage data.

“This partnership brings our advanced models directly into that environment, making it easier to deploy AI agents and apps, so businesses can close the gap between what AI is capable of and the value they can create today,” she said.
