The winners include: Kiandra Systems Solutions, Dimension Data, Zap, Ensyst, Data#3 and Evolve IT.
Kiandra was selected as a winner in the category: Custom Development Solutions, Application Infrastructure Development for developing a Microsoft Windows-based custom software solution for its Australian customer, eNoteFile Services.
The winning development is an innovative solution for record sharing that is now being used in industries as diverse as physiotherapy and AFL football.
"We are delighted to be recognised as a global player in the custom software development space. To be globally recognised for our work is fantastic," said Martin Cooperwaite, Kiandra's software development director.
"eNoteFile has evolved the concept of putting pen to paper to a whole new level. Built using the latest in Microsoft .NET WPF technology, the solution allows you to create, manage and share records in a secure online and offline environment.
"eNoteFile was developed in response to a demand from the physiotherapy and physical therapy industries for clinical notation. Today, more than 1,000 customers use eNoteFile for notation purposes, ranging from GPs and architects to football coaches, including Geelong Football Club.
"The technology can also fill out forms, email and efficiently share information across an entire organisation. You always have seamless, secure access to your information, even when working offline. It's small, easy-to-use and free to download," he said.
Three Australian firms have also been recognised as finalists in six award categories.
Paul Voges, director, Small and Mid Market Solutions & Partner, Microsoft said the awards are a fantastic outcome for Australia as it demonstrates that local partners are operating at a world-class level.
"Given the current economic climate, it's as important as ever for Microsoft and our partners to be showcasing how innovation and outstanding solutions are helping our customers to weather the downturn, and, more importantly, come out the other side stronger," he said.
The Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2009 is held from 13-16 July in New Orleans.
