Singtel, the owner of Optus, has confirmed that it is "currently in discussions with interested parties" regarding an Optus stake sale.
The company, however, cautioned that "there is no certainty or assurance that any transaction will occur".
Singtel also said in its statement released to the Singapore Stock Exchange that it will "make an announcement if and when there are any material developments that warrant disclosure".
"The Singtel Group contemplates a like-minded local partner that aligns with our objectives of ensuring that Optus continues to be a strong alternative operator in the industry, providing a reliable and trusted critical service to all Australians," the company said.
Optus chief executive Kelly Bayer Rosmarin resigned in 2023, with former NBN CEO Stephen Rue appointed in her place around six months later.
Last year, John Arthur was appointed chairman of Singtel Optus, replacing Paul O’Sullivan.
2025 also saw the Australian Information Commissioner filing civil penalty proceedings in the Federal Court against Optus following the company's 2022 data breach.
