A wholly-owned subsidiary of Apple, FileMaker is the vendor of easy-to-use database software for business professionals on the Mac and PC.
The contract gives Simms resellers immediate access to FileMaker's desktop and server boxed software including FileMaker Pro 9, FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced, FileMaker Server 9 and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced, along with exclusive rights to carry Bento, FileMaker~s new personal database product, following its Australian release.
Simms International Managing Director, Danny Moore, said the agreement allows Simms to strengthen its portfolio with a premium established brand, while enabling FileMaker to increase its local market penetration.
“We believe there is a significant opportunity to build on that profile with proactive marketing and education for a corresponding increase in sales,” he said.
FileMaker’s regional manager Asia Pacific, Steve McManus, said he looks forward to working with Simms to expand FileMaker’s reach.
“With the arrival of Bento, a personal database for Leopard, we believe Simms is the ideal distribution partner in the Australian market,” he said.
