If you're a faithful BlackBerry user who is looking to upgrade their phone, RIM has a new trade-in scheme that is worth looking into.
The smartphone manufacturer has launched an online trade-in site that lets BlackBerry owners net up to $160 for their old phones. The catch is that you have to upgrade your existing phone to one of the devices listed on the website.
There are four phones to choose from: the BlackBerry Torch 9860, Torch 9800, Bold 9900 and Bold 9780. Curiously, models that appear on overseas version of the website, such as the BlackBerry Curve 9360, are not offered by the Australian scheme.
Naturally, the condition and model type of your existing BlackBerry plays a role in determining its trade-in value.
Once you've filled out the details on the website and purchased a replacement phone, you enter a voucher code and send your old BlackBerry to RIM in the mail. Handily, you dont need to send in the box and cables: a working handset and battery is all that is required.
Consumers will be paid via a Visa Prepaid Card mailed to their address, whereas business customers will be sent a cheque.
To take advantage of the scheme, pay a visit to the BlackBerry website.
