Hyland, the developer of enterprise content management and process management software suite OnBase, has been awarded a $16.8 million contract by the New South Wales’ Single Digital Patient Record Implementation Authority (SDPRIA) for a Clinical Document Management System.
OnBase is an AI-enabled operational content management product that orchestrates the capture and governance of enterprise documents, automates content-centric workflows and feeds data to everyday business systems.
The scope of the Clinical Document Management System procured by SDPRIA includes the scanning of paper documents and paper medical records into the Hyland OnBase solution.
This will be integrated with the Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR), which is being rolled out across all hospitals in NSW Health. NSW Health currently utilises multiple systems for the scanning of paper medical records.
"To ensure that the needs of NSW Health can be met into the future and any solution is aligned with the roll-out of the SDPR, a thorough procurement process was undertaken, with Hyland selected as the successful tenderer," a spokesperson for the SDPRIA told techpartner.news.
"This technology will replace multiple existing systems that are in use across NSW Health and will be tightly integrated to the SDPR."
The contract runs until 15 January 2036.
The SDPR is an electronic medical record keeping system that will provide clinicians with access to patient information from a single, reliable source.
Across NSW, the SDPR will intend to improve healthcare experiences across NSW Health by providing a full picture of a person's health information - like test results, appointments, and treatment history - in one secure system.
It will do this by unifying the nine electronic medical records, 10 patient administration systems and five laboratory information management systems currently in use across NSW Health.
The rollout of the SDPR will occur in five phases, with the first phase kicking off this month.
"The SDPRIA is making good progress with the implementation of the SDPR, with infrastructure updates and training underway in preparation for go-live," the spokesperson explained to techpartner.news.
In November of last year, RLDatix Galen Australia, a healthcare data management organisation, was awarded a $83.7 million contract by SDPRIA for a data migration and data archive solution.
A year ago, SDPRIA, in partnership with eHealth NSW, flagged plans to go to market for document management, integration and pharmacy systems work.
The SDPR will be operational across all NSW Health local health districts and specialty health networks by the end of 2028.
