RLDatix Galen Australia, a healthcare data management organisation, has been awarded a $83.7 million contract by the New South Wales’ Single Digital Patient Record Implementation Authority (SDPRIA) for a data migration and data archive solution.
The contract runs until 16 December 2034.
The SDPRIA was formed last year and involves a statewide integration of electronic medical records, laboratory information management systems and patient administration systems.
A range of service providers have been engaged to maximise the statewide benefits of the Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR), which has Epic as its core foundation platform, hosted on an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment.
Dr Teresa Anderson AM, chief executive of the SDPRIA, said that the migration and archive of the legacy systems and a large number of non-Epic clinical and non-clinical systems integrated with the Epic Platform will be supported by RLDatix Galen.
"The SDPR’s Statewide Data Archive will be delivered in partnership with RLDatix Galen, and will provide a single secure access point for all historical patient data from all systems that are replaced by SDPR," Anderson told techpartner.news.
"The Archive will integrate with SDPR, meaning clinicians can continue to provide clinical care to their patients without disruption, as they will have secure access to all patient data even if it's not migrated to the new SDPR."
Anderson explained that RLDatix Galen was appointed as the supplier of the Statewide Data Archive following an "extensive" procurement process involving approximately 150 NSW Health representatives.
"This multidisciplinary team of experts included Chief Digital and Information Officers, directors and frontline staff in the areas of Clinical, Health Information Management, ICT Application Support, Analytics & Reporting, Pathology, Architecture, Service Management, Security, Cloud, Strategy, Finance, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence, Specialty Health Network, and Policy and Compliance," she said.
The SDPR program is being rolled out in phases across 15 local health districts and two specialty networks .
The roll out will occur in five stages, with the first go-live including Hunter New England Local Health District, Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network and NSW Health Pathology (Hunter New England sites) in March 2026.
The Single Digital Patient Record will be operational across NSW Health local health districts and specialty health networks by the end of 2028.

In total, it will be implemented in 228 public hospitals, 600+ community health centres, 60 pathology laboratories and 150+ pathology collection centres.
Once the SDPR is fully rolled out, the goal is to enable healthcare teams in NSW to be able to use the same digital clinical system to access patient information, record the care they provide, and order diagnostic tests and manage medications, no matter which public hospital or community healthcare facility they work in.
Earlier this year, the SDPRIA, in partnership with eHealth NSW, flagged plans to go to market for document management, integration and pharmacy systems work.
