Adelaide-based satellite IoT connectivity provider Myriota has unveiled AssetHawk, a rugged, long-life asset tracker designed to deliver global visibility beyond the reach of traditional cellular networks.
Engineered for rapid deployment at the edge, AssetHawk is a ready-to-use device that integrates with third-party visualisation and analytics platforms.
Its "compact, low-profile design" and flexible mounting options, including magnetic mounting, make it well-suited to rotating fleets and temporary assets, according to the company.
An IP68-rated enclosure also ensures operation in harsh conditions, including submersion, dust, impact and extreme temperatures commonly encountered in mining, agriculture and heavy industry.
Powered by Myriota’s HyperPulse 5G Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) satellite connectivity, AssetHawk supports scalable tracking of trailers, containers, pallets, vehicles and unpowered assets across vast geographies. This allows operators to verify delivery milestones, reduce asset loss, improve utilisation, lower operating costs and improve margins as fleets and deployments scale, Myriota claims.
For long-term deployments, AssetHawk is engineered to minimise operational overheads. Low-power hardware delivers up to 10 years of battery life on two AA batteries, while firmware automatically increases location update frequency when movement is detected.
The device operates on a standards-based 3GPP Release 17 architecture, using private data paths to protect against unauthorised access or interference, and is developed on a TAA-compliant supply chain.
The tracker will soon be available with optional Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) capabilities, enabling the capture of condition data from Bluetooth sensors, including temperature, vibration and other environmental metrics.
Ben Cade, CEO of Myriota said most tracking projects fail not in the lab, but at scale - when battery swaps, coverage gaps and complex integrations erode the business case.
"AssetHawk is designed to flip that equation," he said.
"By delivering global coverage, predictable multi‑year life and straightforward integration in a single device, we’re giving solution providers and systems integrators a way to scale tracking profitably, even for assets that were previously too remote or low‑value to justify a tracker.”
AssetHawk is available now in key global markets, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico, with additional markets coming soon.
Myriota launched four additional nanosatellites to strengthen its UltraLite low Earth orbit (LEO) constellation last year, and at the end of 2024 announced a $50 million funding round to fund expansion of its workforce and enhance its IoT connectivity platform and infrastructure.
