Melbourne-based managed service provider Mobilise IT has hired Michael Cefai to the newly created role of national sales director.

Cefai, who was most recently Samsung Enterprise Solutions southern regional sales manager enterprise, told CRN: "I moved to Mobilise IT for the career progression opportunity into mobility managed services. The PC market is slowing down and the mobility is exploding exponentially."

In his new role, Cefai will be responsible for growing the business and sales teams in the coming years.

Mobilise IT chief executive George Deligiannoudis said: "Michael will be responsible for growing the sales team in Asia-Pacific. We are going to move into Japan and China as we want to transform and become the largest MSP in Asia-Pacific."

The appointment comes amid a shakeup in the sector following the acquisiton of MSC Mobility, one of the biggest mobile device management companies in Australia, by Telstra.

Cefai will restructure Mobilise IT's Australian sales team to focus in health, government, education, transport and logistics, retail and hospitality, and banking and finance.

He joined the IT industry in 1990 and worked for Acer Computer Australia for 22 years, having been the driving force behind many of the computer maker's biggest government deals.

Cefai was Acer's general manager corporate government and education sales when he departed in 2012 for a short-lived stint as southern regional manager of now-defunct Dataflex before joining Samsung in 2014.

Cefai is also an advisory board member at TLC for Kids Charity and the president of the Maltese Chamber of Commerce in Victoria.

Mobilise IT claims to be the largest mobile managed service provider in the country. It has offices in Brisbane and Sydney and more than 60 employees. Its customers include Flight Centre, Gold Coast City Council, Victoria University, and ANZ.
