SA Department of Premier and Cabinet releases RFI for AI tools

The South Australian Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is seeking information from AI providers as DPC is interested in learning more about what AI tools, solutions and services are in the market and that are relevant to government functions and services.

Specifically, the department seeks to identify innovative AI technologies that address government needs, including tools that enhance efficiency, decision-making, and service delivery, as well as assess the maturity, scalability, and adaptability of vendor solutions that may be suitable for integration into existing government systems.

The department is also seeking to understand how vendors’ tools comply with security, privacy, and cyber regulations relevant to the public sector; explore opportunities for partnership, collaboration, or pilot initiatives, allowing government agencies to trial AI solutions in real-world scenarios; and understand how vendors respond to data privacy, data usage policies, and the measures taken to protect sensitive information.

The department is looking to obtain indicative costing models and pricing structures to inform future procurement planning and budget allocation, plus learn from vendors’ experiences in deploying AI solutions within similar sectors or government contexts, including lessons learned and best practices.

The insights gathered from these meetings will help DPC compile a ‘catalogue of offerings’ and inform subsequent project planning, procurement strategies, and policy development to best leverage AI capabilities for public benefit.

The DPC intends to conduct regular RFIs for AI tools beginning in 2026.

The request for information closes at 2pm (ACST) on Friday 31 October 2025.
