rhipe has acquired Melbourne-based software developer Network2Share for $2 million and will use it to create its "own billable software product", a significant step beyond basic distribution.
The company told the ASX (pdf) that it plans to bundle Microsoft Office 365, Azure and other software with Network2Share’s SmartEncrypt encryption product, which lets users encrypt documents and manage keys..
“The acquisition of SmartEncrypt has been some time in the making,” Rhipe chief executive Dominic O’Hanlon said. “As ‘The Cloud Channel Company’, Rhipe’s strategy has been to bring new products and services to market for our rapidly expanding reseller community.”
Network2Share’s wares will also be exclusively available through Rhipe’s Platform for Recurring Subscription Management (PRISM) for its Asia-Pacific reseller partners.
Rhipe said it has market-tested SmartEncrypt with “a number of key resellers” and has received “strong interest” for deployment in small and medium sized end-user businesses.
“My talented team and I are excited about joining Rhipe. We see the huge potential Rhipe brings to the continued development and commercialisation of the SmartEncypt platform,” Network2Share chief executive Regan McKay said.
“I believe that the wealth of experience and connections the rhipe management team provides us will certainly be invaluable in commercialising our encryption product globally and deliver value to rhipe shareholders.”
