If your reseller has a retail presence and a $20 note that doesn’t look quite right crosses your counter, don’t panic.
Instead take a moment to appreciate Australia’s new $20 bill, which goes into circulation today.
And here it is!
The Reserve Bank has posted an explainer of the new note’s security features, and there are plenty of them including the use of fluorescent ink, and a “window” that contains a picture of a Kookaburra with changing colours on its feathers and beak when the note is tilted.
The new note depicts convict turned business person Mary Reibey on one side and Royal Flying Doctor Service founder Reverend John Flynn on the other.
The Reserve Bank says the new note should work just fine in ATMs and other cash-handling equipment. If you see one across your counter in coming days, let us know!
