Reseller liquidated with debts of almost $1m

Ingram Micro and Avnet Technology Solutions are listed among the creditors of a Perth IT company liquidated with debts of almost $1 million.

Corporate Computers was wound up on 29 February 2016, with Kim Wallman from HLB Mann Judd appointed liquidator. The first creditors meeting is on 14 March.

Wallman reported that Corporate Computers was likely to be carrying more than $950,000 of debt, according to a summary of affairs from 1 March that was lodged with ASIC.

The summary of affairs identified $930,000 owed to the ATO. Ingram, Avnet, St George Finance, Canon Finance Australia and Capital Finance Australia all listed as secured creditors with debts ‘to be confirmed’.

Apart from the ATO, there are seven unsecured creditors, including Optus and Telstra. The size of their debts are not yet known.

Wallman also identified over $300,000 of assets, largely debtors, however, she estimated that none of the money would be recovered, leaving a known deficiency of $952,617.

Corporate Computers is linked to award-winning firm BaseGroup Australia. The companies have shared directors, according to the summary of affairs and the BaseGroup website.

The BaseGroup website lists Base IT as a BaseGroup business, alongside Base3 and Basetel.

A BaseGroup spokesperson told CRN by email that “BaseGroup is not in liquidation” and that “BaseGroup, Base3 and Basetel are very much operational”.

"Base IT is an old business name linked to Corporate Computers IT Pty Ltd, the company that was recently placed into liquidation. The entity (which operated as a hardware sales business) was sold and ceased trading over eight months ago. The company has never operated a managed cloud business. Our cloud-based business continues to operate through another entity that was established in 2010."
