Red Hat has set up a new Partner Centre to provide a centralised forum for partners and resellers to share tools and tips on selling open source code.
The Red Hat Partner Centre is a community portal used for sharing sales advice and software tools for cloud services, virtualisation, platform and middleware systems. The announcement was made in advance of the 2010 Red Hat Summit and JBoss World conference in the US this week.
"We are enabling our business partners and resellers to deliver Red Hat subscriptions in a flexible consumption based model. We recognise that every business has different requirements," said Mark Enzweiler, vice president of global channel sales at Red Hat.
"Now, through the Red Hat Partner Centere we are making it easier for our partners to bring these cutting-edge technologies to their customers."
The initial focus of the forum will be on virtualisation and cloud and will include marketing materials as well as white papers covering key elements of open source code.
"Having a single on-demand resource like the Red Hat Partner Centre will positively impact our business and our sales force," said Erik Wallin, co-founder of Shadow-Soft.
"We've piloted the system and found it to be an invaluable tool, particularly the fact that sales marketing tools and deal registration is all in one platform."
