Eastern Australian reseller Viatek has acquired Microsoft partner Comcity, making it the third buyout in the last year-and-a-half.

"The acquisition further positions Viatek Technology as a credible and attractive alternative to the tier one outsourcers in Australia," said Viatek Technology Group managing director Jonathan Salmon.

The value of the deal, effective last Wednesday, was not disclosed.

Viatek was formerly a print services provider, but with last year's acquisitions of Sydney's CN GroupGeelong's Barwon Computer Solutions and now Comcity, it has transformed into a broader business technology provider covering a vast area in the eastern states.

Headquartered in Melbourne, Viatek has a strong regional presence with branches in such cities as Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Sheppparton, Newcastle, Orange and Wagga Wagga. The company has 11 offices in Victoria, eight in New South Wales and one in South Brisbane.

Viatek was named MAXfocus MAXimum partner of the year in October.

Melbourne and Sydney-based Comcity was the 2012 Microsoft small business specialist partner of the year, and provides managed services, enterprise applications and infrastructure-as-a-service. Its customer portfolio includes LegalSuper and Westernport Water.
