Queensland-based power protection distributor Power Quality Consultants (PQC) has opened a new office in Sydney to cater for increasing interstate customer demand, and aims to grow the new entity to the same size as its Brisbane business in 12 months.
PQC New South Wales will focus mainly on electrical wholesalers and contractors, industrial automation and process control suppliers, and security and communications suppliers.
The two-time Emerson Network Power ‘Distributor of the Year’ (in 2005 and 2006) will also be making every effort to strengthen its relationship with Australia’s only supplier of turnkey business-critical continuity solutions.
Trevor Bird, Managing Director, PQC said the company’s plan is to build carefully and steadily by developing close relationships with a reasonably small number of resellers who add value to its Liebert-branded Emerson and ASCO solutions.
“We will be the 'technical expertise and support' for power and cooling for these resellers, to enhance their own customers' relationships and standing. A big feature will be comprehensive product service post-sales and installation - from drop-in on-demand battery servicing, to comprehensive Emerson preventative maintenance agreements.
“Emerson has been our major supply vendor from the beginning,” says Bird. “It’s is a perfect fit with our philosophy for the highest engineering excellence, technical back-up and support Australia-wide, and the largest product mix. They give us a 'one stop shop' and a single point of responsibility, and together we provide 'grid to power point' availability for our customers.”
Bird says that critical applications resulting from the convergence of IT and voice, IP-enabled building automation and security, and general process control, has resulted in higher demand for power support to end user offices, factories and work places.
“The size and power requirement of servers, switches, and storage is rising at a great rate, and our daily challenge is to keep these devices cool and functioning,” he said.
The distributor has been representing Emerson for the past five years.
