Peter Agamalis sells distie Impact Systems

Sydney-based IT distributor and PC manufacturer Impact Systems Technology has been sold to a private buyer.

Founder and managing director Peter Agamalis declined to name the buyer or the asking price, other than saying it was a private buyer that had other interests in the IT industry.

Impact Systems was founded by Peter and Melba Agamalis in 1990 in their Sydney granny flat. 28 years later, the boutique IT distie boasts more than $30 million in annual sales and distribution deals with the largest vendors in the channel, including Microsoft, HP, Lenovo, Intel, Asus and plenty more.

The company will continue trading under its current name and structure, with all staff retained.

Agamalis said he sold because it was time to take a break after running the company for 28 years. He added that he will remain in the industry, but will pursue other interests and projects in the interim.

“I want to take a moment to recognise my peers, my colleagues and all my partners and associates that have support Impact Systems over the 28 years. It’s been an interesting ride from the days of selling XT motherboards and 286 CPUs to where the market is today, it’s quite an eye opener.”

"I can walk away knowing that I've made an 'impact' pardon the pun, in knowing that in my time in the computer industry, that I've made significant strides and created history and left a mark on the industry."
