Optus has launched a wireless broadband plan specifically aimed at renters.
The telco's Home Wireless Broadband Solution comes with a wireless modem activated with a SIM card that connects to the Optus 4G Plus network. This allows customers to maintain the same connection when moving homes.
The plan starts at $70 per month for 50GB of data on a 12- or 24-month contract. The modem costs $240 for month-to-month customers, $10 per month on a 12-month contract, or no additional cost for 24-month agreements.
Optus managing director of marketing and product Vicki Brady said the bundle addressed the hassle for users who frequently move home.
“For a big group of customers, getting a timely and decent internet connection is a real challenge,” said Brady. “Aussie renters, who move home frequently, find it particularly frustrating to disconnect and reconnect each time, often waiting several days or weeks before they can access the internet.”
VoIP network provider and telco MNF - formerly MyNetFone - launched its own internet plan aimed at renters in September.
MNF’s Renters Internet Plan comes with unlimited DSL service relocations on a six-month contract. The bundle is priced at $49 per month and comes with 500GB of data and a free modem.
