OKI Data Corporation also known as OKI Printing Solutions has acquired its local distributor IPL Datron.
The company plans to enhance its presence in Australia and bolster its colour page printer share to 10 percent by fiscal year 2011.
Harushige Sugimoto, president and chief executive officer of OKI Data Corporation said the business will focus on delivering customer service and after-sales care for its customers.
He said it also plans to expand its service offerings to corporate and government markets.
The office will also develop stronger business relationships and expand its distribution channel, he claimed.
"In the past, we have worked through IPL Datron," he said. "The establishment of a new sales office represents a great opportunity to increase our presence in this important market," he said.
Takaaki Hagiwara was appointed managing director of the joint local operation. He was previously the managing director of Oki Data Singapore.
Graham Harman, general manager of Oki will also join the new entity.
Harman said it was a "very exciting time for our employees and our partners".
"Oki are very bullish about our growth and it's great to be part of a global company represented in over 120 countries," he said.
The printer company has been conducting business in Australia since 1982.
