Nutanix appoints channel director from VMware

Nutanix has hired Niall O’Gorman as its new channel director for Australia and New Zealand to replace Darrin Edkins, who left to take up a new post at EMC.

O’Gorman will be responsible for managing Nutanix’s local partnerships with the likes of resellers such as Datacom, Fujitsu and Dimension Data, as well as distributors Exclusive Networks and Avnet.

Prior to joining Nutanix, O’Gorman was national partner business manager for VMware. He joined VMware in October 2011 as the NSW partner business manager before taking the national job in September 2015.

He has also been the Citrix business development manager for Avnet.

“As Nutanix’s rapid expansion continues, my focus will be to help our partners provide simple, scalable and always-available cloud platforms so our joint customers can focus on their core business rather than the technology on which it runs,” said O’Gorman.

Former Nutanix channel director Darrin Edkins left in April after 18 months in the role. A month later, he joined EMC as manager of its mid-market all-flash solutions business.

During his time with Nutanix, Avnet signed up to distribute the hyper-converged vendor in Australia, becoming the second local distributor alongside Exclusive Networks.
