Hardware distributor, Electronic Accessories Australia and Dedicated Services are providing VoIP services with a new company dubbed Capped Telecom.
Capped Telecom would be officially launched next week. No retailers had signed at this stage to sell the service despite the fact that EAA supplies computer peripherals to Harvey Norman, Retravision and The Good Guys.
EAA’s resellers would receive an ongoing residual commission for every customer they sign up to the service.
“Not only will they get a margin on the hardware, but they will also receive residual support from us. Resellers will be able to access all their sales information through the EAA web site,” said Rick Williams, general manager at EAA.
Capped Telecom has been two years in the making with both companies throwing in several ideas for the business. EAA would provide distribution and Dedicated Service customer support through a call centre.
Williams said Dedicated Services originally came to them to purchase telephones. After throwing in a lot of ideas, both organisations came up with an idea they believe with be worthwhile to customers, he said.
“We wanted to take advantage of the availability of broadband ADSL. EAA wanted also wanted to expand into the market, especially as the computer accessories market is very competitive,” he said.
VoIP hardware used by the company is manufactured by Taiwanese networking equipment supplier Planet.
