Update 1:22pm AEDT: "Sky Muster services are now restored nationally after being impacted by a planned software update at approximately 4am," an NBN spokesperson told CRN.

"We apologise to all users who were impacted today. If people have not yet been able to reconnect to the network, we recommend they restart their equipment, or speak to their retail provider."

A Sky Muster outage is affecting NBN services across Australia, NBN Co has confirmed.

The network provider said the outage was caused by a planned software update.

NBN Co and a number of retail service providers confirmed that the outage started at 4am Sydney time today, although some services have since been restored.

“Sky Muster services were impacted by a planned software update at approximately 4am today. Services are being restored nationally but we are aware of some end users who are still experiencing outages,” an NBN Co spokesperson told CRN.

“We are working closely with our satellite partners to get these services restored as quickly as we can and we apologise to all satellite end users who have been impacted by this outage.”

RSP Activ8me said beams connected to Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and Waroona Satellite Earth Stations in Western Australia were impacted from 6am, extending to all gateways nationwide at 6:35am.

A core router was restarted at 7:15am, restoring most of the gateways except for Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and Waroona, where maintenance is ongoing.

As of 9:40am Sydney time, RSP SkyMesh said services at Bourke and Broken Hill in NSW, Carnarvon, WA, Ceduna, SA, Geeveston, TAS and Roma, QLD have been back online.
