The news comes as the company welcomes Jerry Hsu (pictured), as managing director for A/NZ. He will replace Frank Chen who leaves to represent the brand in Canada.
Hsu has worked for MSI for more than six years and was formerly the country manager for Italy, based in Milan for 26 months.
He said he plans to re-establish MSI’s brands through various channel programs and campaigns and ‘improve its market share by restructuring and re-building a healthier channel structure.’
MSI is launching its Entertainment and Gaming series this month as well as the official launch of the Wind notebook in Australia.
According to Hsu, MSI’s aim is to be branded in the Top 10 for notebooks worldwide by 2010 and it currently has a waiting list of 10,000 Wind notebooks to be shipped out to Australia in September.
The desktop is three times smaller than a traditional PC chassis; 300mm by 260mm by 65mm, and comes in a variety of colors, including black and white.
“Due to the excellence in design and pricing point, the MSI Wind notebook has created a huge pull in the Australian market. In fact, all of our new products have received a lot of attention both from the press and final users,” he said.
“As a result, we’re expecting to consolidate our presence and significantly improve MSI’s position in the market, attracting potential new targets with more powerful and appealing products,” he added.
MSI Australia currently has two national distributors; Ingram Micro and Today Tech and two regional ones; Leader Systems (SA) and Direct Memory Access (WA).
