Database software vendor MongoDB has hired former Pivotal Software ANZ boss Gavin Jones to lead its go-to-market/channel sales for Australia and New Zealand.
He has taken on the newly created role of regional vice president for ANZ from 2 April.
He joins vice president of technical services Andre de Frere and vice president of engineering Michael Cahill to round up the region’s leadership team.
"ANZ is a region of innovators and early adopters and we're very excited about the opportunity here. The timing is perfect to bring in someone of Gavin's experience to build on the successes we've already had locally and really scale out our go-to-market strategy,” Alan Chhabra, MongoDB senior vice president for worldwide partners and APAC sales, said.
“This will include nurturing our developer community, elevating our executive relationships in the enterprise, and working closely with our partners who are such an important part of our growth."
Jones was the ANZ managing director of Pivotal Software, who was hired in 2014 after leading the ANZ business of Good Technology. There, he was in charge of executing the company’s strategy, vision and growth objectives across the region.
Dell-backed Pivotal Software recently made headlines this week as it plans to go public with a US$592 million IPO.
Jones also held various executive and leadership roles at Salesforce, Oracle and Avaya.
MongoDB listed on Nasdaq in October last year, with an initial public offering of US$192 million, filing as early as August 2017. The company develops a NoSQL database and touts itself as a “next-generation database developer” competing with both with legacy relational databases and non-relational databases.
