Microsoft Australia names four new Surface Hub partners

Microsoft has named Dimension Data, Data#3, Insight, Ensyst and Generation-e as Surface Hub partners in Australia.

They join existing partners Telstra and Pro AV Solutions, which were selected in June 2015.

The wall-mounted devices went on sale in Australia earlier this year for $13,499 for the 55-inch model and $34,099 for the 84-inch model.

Surface Hub is aimed at businesses using video conferencing and Microsoft collaboration tools that would typically spend more than the value of the Hub on conference room facilities.

Microsoft said in a blog post that the device has been gaining traction in healthcare, manufacturing, automotive, consulting, defence, finance and education industries.

"Whilst we are expanding availability, we will continue to take the steps and time needed to create and deliver the best possible experience to our customers with a very measured go-to-market approach," said Microsoft.

"Just as the PC revolutionised productivity for individuals, we see Surface Hub as a transformative tool for group productivity, collaboration and satisfaction."

The 84-inch model is fitted with a 3840 x 2160 resolution screen and weighs in at 127 kilograms. The 55-inch model by comparison weighs 48 kilograms and is fitted with a 1920 x 1080 screen.

Both models come with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM and run a custom version of Windows 10.
