Sydney-based specialist distributor Lan 1 has signed an agreement to distribute Raritan’s range of KVM switches, in an effort to crank up the vendor’s enterprise sales.
For the past three to four years, Raritan had been distributed exclusively through Perth-based KVM Australia. That agreement would continue.
Gary Hull, sales director at Raritan, said the company appointed Lan 1 in order to increase its coverage on the East Coast of Australia.
“The growth in our business has been incremental and healthy -- we see our business being positioned in the KVM over IP enterprise space,” he said. Lan 1 operates squarely in this market, touting itself as a specialist IP storage, IP networking and IP security distributor.
“The team at Lan 1 will give us added focus in the key enterprise market as well as reach into the IP technologies market where Lan 1 will certainly bring significant value to our business," he claimed. "IP-based networking is the future and Raritan has just released two new Dominion KVM switches as the first ever IP-based device that controls up to 32 servers.”
Sev Onyshkevych, global marketing VP at Raritan, was quick to assert that the company was still happy with KVM Australia. “We're not penalising here, we’re growing, we see opportunity in the market and need broader coverage.”
KVM switches have traditionally been used to manage multiple desktop PCs with one keyboard, mouse and monitor. Today, they are also enabling IT workers to monitor thousands of data centre servers and to pinpoint and handle problems.
