Niche distributor Lako Pacific has signed a licensing agreement with PC Tools to distribute its range of security software products through the retail channel.
Previously US-based PC Tools was only available to customers through direct online sales.
Eugene Wong, Lako Pacific spokesperson said while the agreement wasn’t exclusive it is the first for the security vendor in Australia.
“PC Tools has been selling its products through retail chain stores in the US. However it was only available online locally because the vendor wanted to gain an understanding of the marketplace,” he said.
Wong said by October Lako will have PC Tools’ flagship products Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic on the shelves of mass merchant stores like Harvey Norman, Retravision, Domayne and the Good Guys.
“We will also distribute the product through resellers and systems integrators, as well as our sub-distributors,” he said.
