Local VoIP provider, ISPhone is planning to transition itself away from a pure VoIP focus, by building its own telecommunications network.
This will allow ISPhone to offer a full gambit of telecommunications services across the provider’s services.
McDonald Richards has been chosen at the chief architect to oversee the day-to-day running of the ISPhone network, managing a team of engineers to develop new product initiatives in IP and voice networking technology.
He will be responsible for putting together a framework to transition the company from its existing VoIP focus to an access-agnostic NGN business telecommunications provider, capable of delivering multiple services to its customers.
Richards said over the next few months ISPhone will hire additional resources in the areas of network operations, voice engineering, Cisco support and UNIX administration and programming.
“We are expanding our products and expanding our network to become the telecommunications provider of choice for SMEs,” said Richards.
“The VoIP market in Australia is extremely competitive, so it’s vital for VoIP providers to differentiate themselves in the market.”
