IPL drives reseller growth with LifeSize

Distie IPL Communications anticipates "further reseller growth" in its channel with the release of a more compact LifeSize videoconferencing system next month.

The portable videoconferencing product, called LifeSize Passport, was claimed to be the world's first high-definition videoconferencing system to enable Skype audio calls.

IPL Communications general manager Paul Scanlan said the distie's reseller network were "taking orders" for the product.

"We anticipate there will be a huge level of demand for this system," Scanlan said.

"LifeSize has been extremely successful in making video conferencing more accessible to all kinds of businesses. LifeSize Passport takes this to a new level by creating a portable video conferencing system at a price point attractive to SME, home office and teleworkers."

Scanlan pointed to growth in IPL's reseller base on the back of the distie's agreement with LifeSize in January.

He said he expected "the new price point of LifeSize Passport will drive further reseller growth as more businesses turn to LifeSize for cost-effective videoconferencing solutions."

The "new price point" was by comparison to the cost of buying existing LifeSize technology, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to CRN.

The product was available in two models starting from a recommended retail price of $3161 excluding tax.
