Only those who have put down a deposit can reportedly pickup the phone on Thursday night, everyone else has to wait till the next day.
Even if you haven't put down a deposit, you can come and celebrate on George Street, with Optus promising supplies of free coffee and snacks. The location is 280 George Street, corner of George and Hunter street.
