Authsignal has launched Number Verify in partnership with Aduna, bringing carrier-backed mobile number verification to its authentication platform across major networks in the United States and Australia.

Number Verify lets businesses confirm a customer's possession of a mobile number without sending or asking them to enter an SMS one-time passcode (OTP). Depending on the carrier and implementation, verification is delivered through silent network authentication or SIM card-based verification.

Aduna provides access to the underlying network data through a single platform aggregating signals from major telecommunications providers, including Telstra in Australia. The company launched Number Verification across three US carriers in July 2026.

The partnership gives Authsignal's customers a single integration point for the capability, sitting inside the same risk logic, orchestration and fallback paths as their other authentication methods.

"Regulators are already moving past SMS and businesses relying on it are inheriting a risk that only grows with scale," said Paul Bickley, VP revenue at Authsignal.

"Number Verify removes the one-time passcode from the journey entirely. Combined with passkeys and adaptive authentication inside Authsignal, businesses can match the verification method to the risk."

"Through our partnership with Authsignal, businesses can now access trusted, carrier-backed Number Verification across the major mobile networks in both the United States and Australia," said Anthony Bartolo, chief executive at Aduna.

"Together, we're helping organisations strengthen security, reduce fraud and deliver more seamless digital experiences at scale."

Authsignal is a drop-in authentication and identity orchestration platform that enables businesses to secure customer journeys with passkeys, adaptive MFA, biometric authentication, digital credential verification, and omnichannel verification, all integrated on top of existing identity infrastructure.

Authsignal processes more than 12 million authentication events per month across customers in 17 countries, spanning airlines, financial services, marketplaces, government and telecommunications.

Aduna is a joint venture between Ericsson and a group of major global carriers including Telstra, AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Singtel, Telefonica, T-Mobile and Verizon, among others.
