iPad 3 to get six-core Intel processor?

The Apple iPad 3 could be sporting a staggering six-core processor from Intel.

It’s already clear that the iPad 3 will be getting a Retina Display – expected to manage a 2048x1536 resolution while shining with super bright clarity – but what’ll be powering all those pixels?

We already know Apple has love for the Intel brand in its computers, and with Nvidia dishing out the quad-core Tegra 3 to the competitors like the Asus Transformer Prime  – Apple needs to impress. That’s why we reckon the newly announced Intel Sandy Bridge E processors would be perfect for the iPad 3, offering six cores at up to 2.4GHz each.

Of course, that particular processor won’t work on a tablet without your own battery backpack, but if we know Apple, it’s more than likely they’re angling to step up the power on the iPad 3. And if ARM can’t help, Intel will surely be willing to step into the tablet market.
