Intel has slashed prices for its mobile computing processors almost across the board, with some Centrino models falling by as much as 30 percent.
In a new price list published on its US website, the chip-maker has made its most aggressive pricing moves this year in the increasingly strategic mobile computing space.
Intel slashed the price of its 1.7GHz Intel Mobile Pentium M from US$637 to US$423, a drop of 34 percent.
It lowered the price of its 1.7GHz Centrino with an Intel 855 GM chipset from US$713 to US$497, a drop of 30 percent.
It cut the price of its 1.6GHz Centrino with an Intel 855 PM chipset from US$494 to US$365, a drop of 26 percent.
The price cuts went into effect October 5. However, pricing on Intel's desktop and server processors is unchanged.
Intel has claimed that its third quarter ending September 27 would show a higher revenue range than the company had initially projected, partly based on healthy processor sales.
Intel is scheduled to release its third-quarter earnings on October 14.
