Raymond Cacopardo, sales manager at inTechnology, told CRN that the Queensland-based distributor is pushing the BigFix Power Management solution as a response to growing demand by Australian organisations to measure, manage and reduce their carbon footprint.
“CIOs are under a lot of pressure from a number of different areas to do something about the power being used or misused in the IT arena,” he said.
inTechnology is hoping to tap into this opportunity and grow its business through a partner recruitment drive, said Cacopardo.
“We are actively looking for partners who want to assist us in providing energy efficient solutions to clients who are looking to reduce their Co2 footprint and obviously their energy costs,” he said.
According to Cacopardo, unlike technologies such as server virtualisation, BigFix's direct power savings will pay for the subscription cost inside 5 months. He added that SaaS offerings such as BigFix offer greater margins for integrators used to supplying hardware.
BigFix is an out-of-the-box transparent software as a service (SaaS) application that provides a client-side user interface to IT administrators for the management and enforcement of desktop and notebook power policies.
The subscription-based system is compatible with PC and Mac systems and offers detailed reporting and analysis tools, including predicted savings based on different power policies.
