Ingram Micro wins Blancco's business

Ingram Micro has Blancco’s business, and will serve as the data erasure and mobile device diagnostics’ vendor’s Main Focus Distributor in Australia.

Blancco claims its data erasure software produces a result equivalent to physical destruction of a device. Part of that claim relies on its provision of a “certificate of proof, providing evidence of compliance to government regulations and peace of mind that the data has been erased.”

The company’s products can make that happen on computers, magnetic disks, solid state disks, flash media, phones and even printers.

That’s obviously handy from a security point of view. It’s also welcome in the second-hand market.

“We are looking forward to working with Ingram Micro, the largest distributor in Australia, to enable the channel to generate new revenue streams and offer new points of differentiation through secure data erasure with the Blancco suite of products” said Alan Bentley, Blancco’s global president for sales. “Ingram’s size and speed to market make this an easy decision”.

Ingram SVP Country Chief Executive, Felix Wong, said winning Blancco is a strategic step for the distributor.

“This is a great opportunity for Ingram. We have been using Blancco products in our CLS division as a way to securely erase devices being returned for repair or to be resold. We’re now able to offer the same solutions to all our channel partners who can rest assured that they and their customers will be 100 percent compliant with data erasure laws not only in Australia but around the world”

Blancco also offers mobile diagnostics tools that “enable mobile network operators, retailers and call centres to easily, quickly and accurately identify and resolve performance issues on their customers’ mobile devices.” Being able to do so means mobile device retailers can help customers more quickly, and avoid unnecessary product returns.
