Tech Data has brought Ingram Micro’s Andrew Upshon onboard to lead its new Maverick AV Solutions business.
Upshon joins after almost 10 years with Ingram Micro, last holding the role of general manager for the distributor’s professional audio-visual, unified communications, point of sale and medical specialty group.
Maverick, which has been a long-time business for Tech Data globally, will debut in Australia and New Zealand this month, marking the distributor's expansion into audio-visual products.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Andrew to the Tech Data team,” country general manager Wendy O’Keeffe told CRN.
"Over the coming months, Andrew will build our local Maverick AV Solutions business, leveraging the tools, resources and successes of Tech Data’s award-winning AV business in Europe. We look forward to offering these cutting edge collaboration and digital signage solutions to our partners."
Upshon's title will be ANZ director for Maverick, where he has been tasked with building up the distributor’s audio-visual vendor portfolio in the region.
Maverick will target audio-visual products for education, corporate, digital signage and home cinema applications.
Tech Data will provide the new business with support services, finance options and delivery support for prospective customers such as audio-visual integrators and IT companies.
Prior to joining Ingram in 2008 as a business manager, Upshon worked as national product manager for systems integrator Electroboard Solutions, and held various sales roles with distributors and vendors in the UK and South Africa.
