Ingram Micro Australia's Ling to step down
Outgoing volume technology director Desmond Ling

Ingram Micro will soon have a new director of volume technology when Desmond Ling departs to return to his homeland of New Zealand.

Ling has been with the distributor since 2002 and with Tech Pacific for six years before that. Tech Pacific was acquired by Ingram Micro in 2004.

Ling served as Ingram Micro's New Zealand general manger for five years until September 2011 when he moved across to Australia and his current position.

Ling will leave Ingram Micro in March to spend more time with his family.

Replacing him will be former Tech Pacific and Ingram Micro executive Julian Phua, who spent nearly ten years at the two companies until 2007 when he took on a role as general manager for product development and supply chain at rival distributor Cellnet.

Phua has been consulting in the reseller channel since departing Cellnet mid last year.

Phua will officially re-join Ingram Micro towards the end of February as commercial director for the volume technology group.
