Infosec channel managers play musical chairs in Australia
Nigel Gutschlag

Check Point has announced Nigel Gutschlag as its new Australian channel boss, filling a role left vacant after the departure of Sean Abbott to Trend Micro.

Abbott left Check Point and took up the role of Australian and New Zealand enterprise sales director for Trend Micro in February this year, according to his resume.

Check Point has also hired former Symantec systems engineer manager Philip Dimitriu to head its Australian and New Zealand presales as regional engineering director. According to Dimitriu's resume, he started his career in the late 1990s as an engineer at Southern Cross Computer Systems.

The new appointments follow Fortinet's announcement that it had hired Gary Gardiner as new director of engineering for ANZ. Gardiner was previously northern region sales engineering manager for Check Point.

Fortinet also hired another ex-Check Point staffer earlier this year in Merrilyn Gardiner, previously mid-market channel manager for Check Point.

Gutschlag steps into the role of channel sales director after nine years at Check Point, including four years in the vendor's Asia Pacific Sales Champions Group. He has a "deep" understanding of the vendor's channels and distribution, according to a statement from Check Point.

Dimitriu's expertise includes SIEM, IT compliance, DLP, information protection, endpoint security and mobility.
