Inabox acquires AAPT, NBN wholesaler

Telco and IT provider Inabox has acquired the assets and customer base of AAPT wholesaler CloudXchange.

The acquisition, which follows Inabox’s purchase last year of Anittel last year, sees Inabox move CloudXchange resellers across to services supplied by its Telcoinabox business.

CloudXchange turns over approximately $1 million dollars, and Inabox expects to pay $240,000 for the business.

CloudXchange supplies wholesale NBN services via AAPT, as well as DSL and mobile data, mobile voice, SIP and PSTN services.

Its resellers are currently being migrated to a wholesale billing platform and support infrastructure, said Inbox chief executive officer and managing director Damian Kay.

“Inabox is best-in-class at carrying out smooth and efficient migrations and we expect CloudXchange will benefit from this,” he said. “All that will change is their account manager and the branding on their wholesale invoices.”

CloudXchange used AAPT for on-net services and Telstra for off-net services. Kay said that resold Telstra services have been churned over to Inabox's Telstra Wholesale account, while Inabox will continue to provide AAPT on-net services to CloudXchange customers through its AAPT wholesale relationship.

He called the CloudXchange buyout another step towards Inabox’s “consolidation of the wholesale aggregator market”.

It scooped up cloud and voice provider Neural Networks Data Services in 2014 and IT services operation Anittel in 2015.

This year it proclaimed it would try and buy smaller wholesale rivals, as well as helping “selected” resellers of its own to make their own acquisitions.
