Tech giant IBM has named Angelica Veness as its new chief technology officer for Australia and New Zealand.
Veness brings more than 20 years of experience across technology sectors including AI, data and analytics, project management and business consulting.
She joins IBM from Salesforce where she held senior leadership roles including senior manager for AI and innovation.
"IBM is world leading across AI with its watsonx platform and hybrid cloud. I look forward to using my skills, to help IBM's clients and partners navigate the ever-evolving tech landscape to create real business value," Veness said.
The appointment marks a return to IBM for Veness, who previously spent four and a half years with the company working on predictive analytics, AI and cloud solutions.
"[Veness] brings a wealth of technical experience across AI, and other emerging technology landscapes, and I know she will be a valuable asset to the company," Nick Flood, managing director, IBM Australia and New Zealand, said.
In her new role, Veness reports directly to Flood.
The technology veteran maintains a strong focus on promoting gender equality within the technology sector.
Prior to Veness, the CTO role was held by Amelia Forbes.
Forbes has been promoted to a new role in Germany, as IBM's vice president of EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) client engineering.
