Up until now, Synnex has distributed HP's business and professional notebooks from its HP Personal Systems Group (PSG) unit.
According to HP, the extended distribution agreement will provide HP with an opportunity to tap into the specialised or white box PC builder market.
"The white box PC builder market represents a significant share of the total desktop market in Australia," said Paul Robson, director, Solutions Partner Organisation at HP Australia.
Furthermore, Robson claimed Synnex will present new opportunities for HP, as well as for resellers and systems integrators in the consumer segment of the market where it sees pressure to drive out cost.
Kee Ong, CEO of Synnex Australia, said, "In the past year, we have made infrastructure and resource investments as part of a broader push to deliver increased value to our partners and customers.
Synnex also distributes HP's high end multi-function printers in partnership with HP's Imaging and Printing Group (IPG).
"Having full access to the entire HP Personal Systems Group (PSG) range, as well as HP IPG's high end multi-function printing technology, reinforces our commitment to the reseller community," he said.
HP's PSG unit covers both consumer and commercial desktops, notebooks, thinclients and hand held products.
