Hitachi Vantara names Marc Fiala as ANZ channel chief

Hitachi Vantara has a new channel chief for Australia and New Zealand.

Marc Fiala has stepped into the role of senior partner business manager and channel lead, crowning his 13 years at the storage vendor.

Fiala’s first job was to add some canned quotes to the local release of a new storage array: the VSP G130 is an entry-level hybrid flash machine can hold up to 96 disks for a total capacity of 940 terabytes raw capacity. Although it’s pitched as a low-end box, 16Gb/s Fibre Channel is the only native host interface. RAID 1, 5 and 6 are options in the 2U machine.

The new array also features a revised cut of the Hitachi Storage Virtualization Operating System that is said to give the box three times better performance than its predecessors in the company’s mid-range boxes, never mind low-enders like this one!

So what did Fiala have to say?

“We expect ANZ organisations will welcome a new option in the entry-level hybrid-flash storage category,” he said, adding that the VSP G130 offers welcome consolidation opportunities.

“Based on initial feedback from channel partners, Hitachi’s Partner community welcomes this new offering which provides an entry level array for clients and is based on Hitachi’s proven Enterprise platform,” he added.

Partners have had a while to offer that feedback as the VSP G130 was launched elsewhere in the region in late 2018.
