New Zealand's Dunedin City Council has awarded HCLTech a 10-year contract to modernise and manage its IT infrastructure in a move designed to accelerate digital transformation across the organisation.
The partnership will see the global technology services company manage council IT operations across cybersecurity, hybrid cloud services, service management, IT asset management and network infrastructure.
Council staff will receive access to omnichannel tools, phased self-service options and onsite support designed to improve operational efficiency.
The arrangement, spanning a decade, is intended to bring faster and more intuitive digital services for Dunedin residents through better system performance and reliability.
HCLTech plans to deploy advanced automation and artificial intelligence (AI) platforms to streamline routine tasks, minimise system downtime and provide round-the-clock virtual support capabilities.
"This partnership supports the Council's five-year IT Strategy and was established through a rigorous procurement process," Robert West, general manager of corporate services at Dunedin City Council, said.
"HCLTech has proven strengths in delivering smart, innovative IT services to the public sector."
"We are proud to support Dunedin City Council in setting new standards for public sector innovation," Sonia Eland, executive vice president and country manager for Australia and New Zealand at HCLTech, said.
"Our shared vision will deliver lasting value to the community."
In November last year, HCLTech picked up a digital modernisation contract for the Tasman District Council, also in the South Island of the country.
Terms of the contract, which was put out for tender in October last year, were not disclosed.
