Technology provider HCLTech said has secured a contract to transform digital services for the Tasman District Council in New Zealand.
The project aims to enhance interactions between council staff and the district's 58,000 residents through Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation.
It will incorporate generative artificial intelligence, and automation technologies, to streamline council processes at the council, located at the top of the South Island.
Residents can expect faster service requests and application lodgements under the new system with round-the-clock service.
"Our goal is simple: we need to change how we do things if we are to meet the demands of our growing community now and in the future," Leonie Rae, chief executive officer, Tasman District Council said.
The council aims to become a digital transformation leader among New Zealand's local government bodies.
Contract value for the project was not disclosed by HCLTech.
Last month, HCLTech announced another contract win, an extension of its existing deal with Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW).
"The Tasman District Council had a clear objective to develop a digital foundation that is flexible and scalable enough to meet their current and future needs," Sonia Eland, country manager for Australia and New Zealand, HCLTech said.
That contract is for end-to-end managed services for business-critical applications, platforms and cloud operations across TfNSW's network of 3200 daily services.
