gotalk claimed the differentiating feature of this offering is the bundling of Naked DSL with its Aussie VoIP pack, providing the benefits of ADSL2+ Internet and mobile calls from one account.
Steve Picton, chief executive officer, gotalk said: “gotalk’s ability to bundle this great VoIP service with its Naked DSL make its Communications Package the only plan of its kind in Australia.”
Whether gotalk will pose a threat to major players in the Australian market like Telstra, Optus and iiNET is debatable, however the launch has attracted interest from a variety of customers seeking a low-cost service provider.
“With the release of several Naked DSL plans from different companies in the last few weeks it is important that customers are made aware of the differences between them and the choices now available,” said Picton.
He envisions a growth in demand of Naked DSL in coming months based on a trend that is seeing mobile phone users do away with fixed lines, while still requiring broadband access.
“I believe we will see a significant take up of Naked DSL plans in 2008 as there is an increasing number of people who use their mobile phone and don’t need the fixed phone,” said Picton. “Of course they do need access to broadband and Naked DSL is obviously a cost effective solution offering access to broadband without having the expense of a telephone connection.”
gotalk has also released a range of stand alone Naked DSL plans, all featuring ADSL2+ and a VoIP account.
