Google Cloud appoints new ANZ vice president for Australia

Google Cloud has named Paul Migliorini as its new vice president for Australia and New Zealand.

Migliorini, who will be based in Sydney, takes over from Alister Dias, who stepped down from the role due to family and personal reasons in April this year.

Migliorini brings over 25 years of experience in the technology sector across Asia, Europe and the US to the role.

He was most recently the group chief executive officer of cloud services company Versent, which was acquired by Telstra last year.

His previous roles include managing director of Amazon Web Services in Australia and leadership positions at BT, IWG and Ernst & Young.

In his new position, Migliorini will lead the local go-to-market strategy and collaborate closely with customers and partners to maximise the potential of AI using Google Cloud's open, secure and integrated technology stack.

"I look forward to building on the momentum and helping customers and partners capture this moment with the power of Google Cloud's technology leadership and differentiation, to deliver real world impact with our solutions," he added.

Google Cloud has been ramped up its activities in the Australian market, with major companies across various sectors choosing it as their innovation partner.

They include ANZ Bank, Woolworths, Ramsay Health Care, and government entities such as the Department of Health & Aged Care.

The US$10 billion revenue in Q2 2024 company has also been investing in Australia's digital infrastructure, including subsea cable investments as part of the Pacific Connect initiative and partnerships to increase renewable energy in Australia's power grid through a partnership with OX2.

It has introduced over a thousand product advancements in the past year, including enhancements to its Gemini AI capabilities.
