Gold Coast Health looking to replace digital storage infrastructure

The Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) has issued an invitation to offer for a hardware solution to replace the existing digital storage infrastructure.

The intended contract will replace several existing arrangements, which are scheduled to expire June 2026, and will cover both Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital.

The ideal solution must combine high performance, scalability, and resilience with advanced security and integration capabilities, reflecting the latest innovations in flash-based storage technologies and intelligent data protection strategies.

Transition from spinning disk storage appliances to solid-state storage to significantly reduce the physical footprint, network, and power consumption while improving space efficiency, as well as enhancing data security through integrated immutability features that prevent unauthorised data modification and ensure data integrity, are also required.

The provider will also be asked to implement advanced ransomware protection capabilities to detect, prevent, and recover from  malicious attacks effectively; incorporate intelligent anomaly scanning to proactively identify unusual patterns and potential security threats in real time; and ensure seamless integration with existing IT infrastructure and support for hybrid environments to streamline management and automation.

Other requirements include delivering scalable and high-performance storage solutions that meet growing data demands without compromising reliability or security; optimising operational efficiencies by leveraging the smaller, more energy-efficient solid-state appliances, reducing total cost of ownership; supporting reliable replication between off-site storage systems for data protection, disaster recovery, and high availability; and introducing file, object and block storage types to meet diverse application and data requirements.

There is a proposed five year initial contract term, and an optional extension of two years, with an intended contract start date of 1 December 2025.

The invitation to offer closes at 12 September 2025 5:00pm AEST.
